I'm Jeff, a Principal-level Front-End Engineer with 20+ years of experience, first across fast-moving Philadelphia agencies and then at Vanguard. I architected the framework-agnostic design system that powers 11 product teams and the firm's main advisor portal, and I lead the engineering teams behind the design system and Expert Insights, Vanguard's AI-driven portfolio analysis platform that reached 110,000 financial advisors on launch in April 2026.

The agency years made me fast, and Vanguard taught me how to build for scale. What I keep coming back to is durable abstractions, the design decisions that hold up across platform shifts you never saw coming. The Vue-to-Web-Components approach I built years ago ended up becoming the foundation for generative-UI work none of us had imagined at the time.

I work player-coach style: I write code alongside the engineers I lead, pair-program through the hard parts, and stay close to the production codebase. Lately that means a lot of AI-assisted coding with Claude, including a two-month team refactor from Vue to Lit and a Gen UI prototype I built.
